Amrut Indian Whisky lovers are up for a treat, this following a partnership between Motibhai Group and Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort with the first single malt whisky last Friday.
The Indian Single Malt Whisky is one of the new alcoholic beverages available at Fiji’s first speakeasy bar,Cellar & Barrel, supplied by Alba Whisky- Whisky & Spirits Distributors, Australia.
Managing director Alba Whisky- Whisky & Spirits Distributors, Australia, Ian McKinlay said they were keen in supporting the Amrut Indian Whisky in Fiji.
“Yesterday (Thursday), we had a training session for the Sheraton bar staff, which was great,” Mr McKinlay said.
“They are very knowledgeable and skilled people, and it was a very interesting session, and I learned a few things from them as well.
“And also, we had a training session with the Motibhai staff from their duty-free shops and some from other outlets which was a great session to have. This is just the first of a few visits from myself and my staff from Melbourne, Australia, because we really want to support Amrut in Fiji.
“And I think it’s got a great future, and this is why we’d be very happy to come back and in fact I might treat my staff for turning up to get a trip to Fiji, but I had to be here first.”
Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort and Sheraton Denarau Villas complex hotel manager, Yvo van Dijk said they were proud of their partnership with the Motibhai Group.
“We are presenting today Amrut, one of our favorite whiskies that we’ve started for our bar, Cellar & Barrel,” he said.
“And has been brought in by one of our main partners Motibhai Group. They have been doing business with since the opening of our resort, and has been one of our key partners, firstly in the wines and now transitioning to mostly spirits nowadays.
” Amrut has been one of our newest whiskies on the menu in Cellar & Barrel.
“Our team went into a rigorous training today by Ian McKinlay, he trained them on how to make whisky, where it’s from and what’s the difference between the Indian whisky and traditional Scottish whisky.
“And they have been taking a lot of notes, and hopefully bring this knowledge back into practice in the competitions they are participating in.”
Motibhai Group Business development manager, Wines & Spirits, Nitesh Chand said they were thrilled to have partnered with Sheraton Fiji and Amrut Whisky.
“Ian McKinlay was with us for a couple of days, we have learned a lot of whisky training, tastings and events as well,” Mr Chand said.
“So, we’re also looking forward to doing more events in future, in partnership with Amrut Whisky and Sheraton Fiji

The Motibhai Group and Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort had partnered with Amrut Indian Whisky for two events the Amrut Whisky Dinner held at the Tatavu Restaurant and Amrut Master Class at the Cellar & Barrel. Both these events were hosted by the supplier, Mr McKinlay.
