Health Minister Dr Atonio Lalabalavu has not given a definite date for when the children’s ward at the Labasa Hospital will reopen, although it should be very soon.
The ward has been closed for more than a year because of extensive renovations, which include necessary electrical upgrades.
In-care child patients have since been relocated to another ward within the hospital.
While speaking about the progress, Dr Atonio said that once renovations were completed, the hospital would be issued a certificate and an official handover would follow.
“At the moment, they remain in a ward,” he said.
