RFNS Savenaca has rescued a small fishing boat which was drifting into open seas west of Navula Passage.
Fiji Navy had received a distress message last night and deployed RFNS Savenaca.
There were two fishermen on board.
“RFNS Savenaca was deployed late last night and arrived in the search area this morning,” said Fiji Navy.
“The crew eventually located the punt and is now towing it back to Lautoka, with the two fishermen safely aboard.”
“We would like to thank everyone who supported the search, including Northern Air, the villagers of Viwa Yasawa, and our partners Fiji Police Force.”
