THREE players tested positive for drugs in the first two days of the 2025 BiC Fiji FACT.

One player tested positive on the first day of the Fiji FACT on Friday and two tested positive on the second day of competition on Saturday.

The positive results came from a pool of 24 players tested on each day, amounting to 48 in total on both days.

This was confirmed by Fiji Football Association’s general manager operations Anushil Kumar yesterday.

Kumar said the two found positive on day two were part of 24 players who were tested for drugs as well.

While he mentioned yesterday’s results were not known yet when this newspaper spoke to him, he emphasised on the wide-ranging effects of the positive results.

“When you go onto the international stage, the consequences are much more severe than what we have,” Kumar said.

“Our fight to keep our sport clean remains the same and yes the message is going out to the districts and the players to please refrain from this, because it does not only affect your team but it’s for your own good as well.”

When this edition went to press, the number of positive results remained unchanged since yesterday’s results would come in after the end of the final match between Stratum Construction Suva FC and Bula Rentals & Tours Nadi FC last night.

Meanwhile, as day three of the Fiji FACT got underway, he acknowledged the tough competition on display by all teams.

“Competition level has been stiff,” Kumar said.

These sentiments proved to be the case when every team heading into their final group matches with a never-say-die resolve to secure their chances of making into the semi-finals.

The semi-finals will be held on Saturday, June 7.
