A cost-sharing initiative between the Fiji Corrections Service and the People’s Republic of China was marked last month when two corrections officers attended training in China.
Chief logistics officer, Assistant Superintendent of Corrections Kaliova Matakarawa, and Suva Corrections Centre reception officer Class A Mereadani Kiliraki were farewelled on May 7 at FCS headquarters in Suva.
“This is to reward you for your hard work, which impacted greatly on your selection to attend this training as an investment for the FCS moving forward and so on behalf of the commissioner, I want to wish you all the best for this trip,” Deputy Commissioner Auta Moceisuva said.
Mr Moceisuva reminded the duo that China, as an advanced first-world country, offered much in terms of learning for them both as individuals and as corrections officers.
Mr Matakarawa attended the Seminar on Advancing Supply Chain Connectivity and Trade Facilitation through E-Port in Shanghai from May 9 to 22, while Ms Kiliraki attended the Seminar on Female Leadership Building for Developing Countries in Beijing from May 8 to 21.
