THE Government has reaffirmed its commitment to placing agriculture, including farmers, at the heart of the nation’s sustainable development agenda.
Speaking during the Fiji Farmers Economic Summit 2025, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said farmers had the role of building a resilient, inclusive, and environmentally responsible agricultural sector.
“Empowering farmers for sustainable agriculture means giving the farmers the tools to adapt, the voice to influence, and the support to thrive,” Mr Rabuka said.
“When our farmers succeed, our nation is stronger, economically, socially, and environmentally.”
The summit, themed “Empowering farmers for sustainable agriculture”, brought together farmers, policy-makers, development partners, buyers, financiers, and technical experts to foster dialogue and action across the agriculture value chain.
“Sustainability is not a slogan, it is a strategy. A strategy that puts farmers at the centre.”
