THE Nasinu Town Council has launched a bold initiative last Friday aimed at tackling the growing concerns around drug abuse, littering and violence against women, children, and senior citizens.
A two-day event was designed to bring people together to stand in solidarity for a safer, cleaner, and more compassionate Fiji.
Speaking at the launch, Minister for Policing Ioane Naivalurua emphasised the urgent need to address community safety and substance abuse.
“Years ahead of us, will our children be much safer, more secure in their schools?,” Mr Naivalurua asked.
“Will our homes be safer, more secure, be less unemployed in Nasinu?
How do we see Nasinu municipality move ahead in the next 10-20 years?
“That’s the challenge that we’ll all have to carry, and will form the basis of how we implement this grand, great idea of Hands Across Nasinu.”
Praising the Nasinu Town Council and the people of Nasinu for the initiative, he called on the business and corporate bodies to step in and be part of the initiative.
