PACIFIC Specialist Healthcare has a new charity arm geared towards serving Fiji and the poorest of the region’s poor.
The Pacific Specialist Foundation was launched in Nadi this week marking a new milestone for the private health care provider.
PSH Hospitals CEO and founder Parvish Kumar said the foundation was created to serve those who needed them the most but could not afford quality healthcare.
“Let’s say there is a breadwinner who is in need of heart surgery, and because he cannot take care of his family, not only does he suffer but the rest of his family also suffers,” said Mr Kumar.
“We have also ensured that there is a very good representation within PSH’s board to share their views on the running of our hospitals and making sure every member of our communities are served with the best healthcare.”
Launching the foundation, Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad commended PSH for their efforts to also offer quality healthcare for all Fijians.
“The hospital’s strategic location near the international airport makes it convenient for medical tourists and retirees, enhancing Fiji’s reputation as a destination with comprehensive medical facilities,” he said.
“The Pacific Specialist Healthcare has brought much pride to all citizens of Fiji, as a cutting-edge health care facility with Fiji’s largest state-of-the-art 130-bed specialty private hospital.
“Since its inception in 2016, Pacific Specialist Healthcare has been making significant achievements, delivering essential primary care services, including low-cost GP consultations, routine diagnostic tests like ECGs, chest X-rays and full blood counts, as well as preventive health screenings.”
He said the foundation also aimed to provide free or heavily subsidised complex medical procedures for the poorest of the poor in Fiji and across the Pacific.
