ATHLETICS Fiji now has a clear plan on what they need to focus on in the next four weeks after their first time trials for their Pacific Mini Games team last Saturday.

Coach Antonio Raboiliku said their first time trial provided an avenue for athletes to get to know each other.

It also provided the opportunity for the coaches to gauge the form of their athletes especially those coming out of the Fiji Finals last month.

“It was the first time trial that we had to allow the athletes to blend in together, know each other, it’s more of an introduction part that we are doing right now, and we’ll head into the finer parts of our preparations in the next five weeks,” he said.

Athletes continued to train at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva with plans for two more-time trials on the table.

“Depending on the availability of the facilities, we are looking at two-to-three-time trials.

“We are also looking at the recovery of our athletes, most of them are Coke Games athletes so they had just finished a big competition, and they are still in the transition phase. By this week they should go back into their normal programs,” Raboiliku added.

Last weekend, their sprinters were put to the test with results varying.

“We need the environment for them to produce their maximum result. We were satisfied with whatever we had on Saturday because it gave us a plan, and we can now plot what we can do in the next five weeks building up to the Mini Games.”

The Pacific Mini Games is scheduled to be held in Koror, Palau from June 29 to July 9.
