A 24-YEAR-OLD man, convicted of robbing a woman before threatening to kill her, has been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison.
On February 2, Daniel Koroivuki entered a guilty plea to a count of robbery and criminal intimidation over an incident committed on January 8 this year.
Magistrate Yogesh Prasad sentenced Koroivuki yesterday after finding his guilty plea unequivocal.
During his trial, the court heard Koroivuki grabbed an iPhone 12 valued at $2999 from Kristeen Kavita Kumar after she had knocked off work.
As a result, she suffered injuries. The 32-year-old complainant then lodged a report at the Toorak Police Post in Suva.
Jale Raikesa, 42, who was near the crime scene, confronted Koroivuki who pulled out a dagger and attempted to stab Mr Raikesa but failed.
He was subsequently arrested the same day and taken to the Totogo Police Station.
Ms Kumar was summoned to court on April 7 where she said her experience had left her traumatised.
During sentencing, the magistrate also imposed a non-parole period of three years on Koroivuki who has 28 days to appeal,
