Nadi Hospital’s children’s ward is to undergo crucial renovation works for which proposals have been sent to major stakeholders.
Hospital board of visitors chair Israr Khan said a couple of them have shown interest.
“But I won’t mention their names now,” Mr Khan said.
“We’re trying our best to make them get engaged,” he said.
He said the children’s ward had been left unattended for a significant period of time.
“It’s time to completely renovate it. It all depends upon the sponsors and the donors to come forward.
“If they come forward, then it will be just a month to get everything organised and then they start with their work.”
He said two options were available to the board.
“Whether they get their contractor and get it done, or we can help them to choose a contractor, and they pay for the work, so we have sent the proposal in that way.”
Mr Khan said the $60,000 project would allow the ward to accommodate more than its current capacity of 12 children.
“By doing this facelift, the ward will be able to accommodate up to 20 children.
“There will still be one parent per child because it gets very congested, but during normal hours, only the parent can stay or one relative can stay with the child.”
