THE refurbishment of the TotalEnergies Vunato Service Station was worth about $3.5million, said property developer Pramod Kumar.
The official relaunch of the new facility was held on Friday and is a collaborative effort between P Kumar & P KUMAR Investment Pte Ltd, Vision Motors and TotalEnergies.
Mr Kumar said the service station would be convenient for residents of Lautoka who wanted to avoid the traffic congestion in the city.
“This is a totally brand-new service station,” Mr Kumar said.
“It was just bare land, so we developed it from scratch, to whatever you see now. This is a Singapore standard, level two they call it. This is their design, all we did was just a plan and then just put it on the ground.”
Mr Kumar confirmed further upgrades would be done to the facility.
“The next project, which is phase two, is our warehouse. It is quite a big one and is looking around $4.5million. “We’re starting soon, maybe another month’s time.”
He said the third phase will be the addition of a supermarket and variety shops.
TotalEnergies managing director Bhavana Samel urged members of the public to capitalise on the ideal location and the variety of services provided at the various outlets.
“We are very happy to bring the global brand, global standards, safety and technical aspects to Fiji and bring the best of the world here,” she said.
“At the same time, I feel having operated in Fiji for 26 years under the brand, we are more of a Fijian than a French company.”
Vision Motors Business Development manager Sai Tokalau said he hoped stakeholders present at the launch would be appreciative of the milestone achievement.
“This is the first time we have gone into this business.
“We hope that other doors will open for us, and we’ll surely be participating in that process.”
