SWIRE Shipping Fijian Drua fly half Caleb Muntz says today’s clash against Western Force at Churchill Park in Lautoka will be an emotional one and he’s determined to help his team finish the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season on a high note.
Speaking ahead of the crucial match, Muntz shared those preparations throughout the week had been smooth with the team taking advantage of the good weather and positive vibes in camp.
“It’s been a good week, prep’s been pretty good and the weather’s been nice,” Muntz said.
Playing in Lautoka has become something special for the Drua, and Muntz admits the team wants to maintain their undefeated run at Churchill Park a venue quickly becoming their fortress.
“Lautoka is like our fortress. We win here, and we want to keep backing that up,” he said.
“We know Force will come expecting something big, and we’ll try not to disappoint.”
Muntz, who has been named on the bench following a last-minute change by team management yesterday.
He highlighted the threat Western Force poses particularly in their set pieces and attacking play from lineouts.
“They love to move the ball a lot. Their set piece is strong, and they score a lot of tries from their lineouts. Our focus will be on limiting their chances inside our 22,” he explained.
What makes today’s game even more meaningful for the young playmaker is the presence of his family.
“It’s going to be a special one. My family is flying over from New Zealand my dad is here, my sister, my grandparents so it’ll be a nice game to play in front of them. Lautoka is special to us and we want to finish this season on a high.”
While speculation swirls around whether this will be his final season in Drua colors, Muntz remained tight-lipped.
“We’ll sort that out at the end of the year. An official statement will be released then,” he added.
