Only President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka currently have access to the full unredacted version of the Commission of Inquiry (COI) into Barbara Malimali’s appointment as FICAC Commissioner report.
Counsel Assisting the COI, Janet Mason, confirmed two versions of the report were submitted on Wednesday, a full version and a redacted version with certain sections blacked out.
“I can’t see how anyone can have copies because only two copies were made of the initial version, one for the President and one for the Prime Minister,” Ms Mason said.
Ms Mason said a decision on the public release of the redacted version has not yet been formally made but she expressed confidence it would likely be shared with the public.
“I would be surprised if the redacted version was not released.”
Mr Rabuka is yet to provide the details of the report saying he would await legal advice on the matter.
