The former acting chief executive officer of the Labasa Town Council has returned to work after investigations found no wrongdoing against him.

Local Government Minister Maciu Nalumisa confirmed the return but clarified the officer has not been reinstated as acting CEO.

“He is back to his substantive role,” he said.

Mr Nalumisa said someone else had been appointed to serve as the acting CEO.

“The person currently looking after finance will handle that role.

“This arrangement will continue until a new CEO is formally confirmed.”

Mr Nalumisa said once a new CEO had been confirmed, the appointee would take over full responsibility of the council.
