Cabinet endorsed the establishment of a Taskforce to oversee the preliminary work and feasibility assessments on establishing the Pacific Fuel Processing, Blending and Distribution Hub in Fiji.

The Taskforce will be co-chaired by a senior Government representative and a representative from the private sector.

Cabinet said the proposed establishment of the Pacific Fuel Hub will directly respond to the key challenges identified by offering a multifaceted approach to fuel production, energy security, climate goals, economic growth and regional leadership.

“It will also enable the local production of both conventional and green fuels, with plans to introduce biofuel blending and lay the groundwork for future e-fuel infrastructure, reducing reliance on imported fuels,” said the Cabinet statement.
