North records three earthquakes in one hour period

The North has been hit by three earthquakes since 2:00pm today, all registering above 2 magnitudes.

The first one was recorded at 2:53pm 7 km South of Labasa Town. The 2.5m earthquake was at a depth of 15 km, said Fiji Seismology.

At 4:00pm, the second earthquake was recorded 31 km East of Rabi Island. The 2.7m was at a depth of 5 km.

Fiji Seismology said the third earthquake was recorded 23km East-Southeast of Nalele, Cikobia Island at 4:05pm. The 2.7m quake was at a depth of 15km.

All the three earthquakes did not generate a tsunami.
