BREAKING NEWS – Commission of Inquiry report on appointment of FICAC Commissioner handed to President

President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu said he will await and be guided by advice from Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka on the publication of the report and implementation of its recommendations.

Today, the Commission of Inquiry established to investigate the appointment of Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) Commissioner handed over their final report to the President.

Sole Commissioner, Justice David Ashton-Lewis, accompanied by the Commission’s Counsel Assisting, Ms. Janet Mason handed the report to President.

“I acknowledge the tireless efforts of the Commission in conducting a thorough investigation,” said Ratu Naiqama.

“The Commission’s terms of reference require it to make recommendations to improve transparency, accountability, and public trust in State institutions, in this case, in the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).”

Justice Ashton-Lewis and Ms. Mason will also present their Final Report to the Prime Minister today, as required by the CoI Terms of Reference.
