LAUTOKA lawyer Salvin Nand has been appointed as the chairperson of the South Pacific Stock Exchange Trustees Limited (SPXT).
The SPX Trustees Limited is the trustee services entity within the SPX Group.
According to the SPX, Mr Nand has been actively involved in the Fijian capital markets over the years, serving as an independent director on the SPX Board.
“A seasoned legal practitioner, he brings over 15 years of experience in legal practice, academic and corporate governance,” the SPX stated.
“He is admitted as a Barrister and Notary Public in Fiji and has appeared before all levels of the judiciary.
“His areas of interest include Intellectual Property Law, Competition Policy, and Securities Exchange Regulations, with a focus on insider trading compliance and market conduct standards.”
Mr Nand is the principal of S Nand lawyers in Lautoka.
The SPX stated that alongside his legal work, Mr Nand had spent more than a decade in academia, contributing to teaching and research.
He also serves as co-editor of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Education, Business, and Society, and has published various research articles and chapters in books.
Mr Nand holds a Master of Laws degree from the Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand and a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property Laws from the Queensland University of Technology in Australia.
SPXT, incorporated in 2021, is licensed by the Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) to provide trustee services with a primary focus on capital market instruments, including shares and other securities.
