The Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association Fiji Finals, now renowned as the Coca-Cola Games, celebrates a historic milestone this year, marking its 50th edition with a powerful blend of nostalgia, national pride, and high-octane athletics.

From today to Saturday, April 26, Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium will come alive as thousands of athletes, supporters, and spectators gather for what is widely regarded as the biggest secondary school athletics event in the Pacific.

What began as a small inter-school meet has grown into a sporting phenomenon, shaping the future of athletics in Fiji and the wider region.

Over the years, the Games have unearthed raw talent, with many athletes going on to represent Fiji on the international stage, a testament to its role as a breeding ground for champions.

This year’s competition promises to be one of the fiercest yet.

Marist Brothers High School returns as the boys’ division defending champions, fresh off a dominant zonal performance.

But the pressure is on, with traditional giants Queen Victoria School and Natabua High School hot on their heels, all vying for top honours.

In the girls’ division, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School is looking to retain their title.

However, they face a determined challenge from Adi Cakobau School, who are hungry to reclaim the crown after falling just short last year.

With over 2000 athletes participating, the energy, talent, and passion on display will be unmatched.

More than just a competition, the 50th Coca-Cola Games is a celebration of youth, school pride, and the enduring spirit of sport that unites the nation.

As the countdown ends and the races begin, one thing is certain, history will be made on the tracks and fields of Suva.

Let the golden games begin!
