GAME changers is how Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association secretary Biu Colati describes the athletes from the rural areas, as the Fiji Finals starts today.

Colati referred to them as such when asked of what he hoped to see from athletes coming into the meet, especially those from other schools besides the dominant ones.

“We will know of a child that is jumping in the high jump (event), which is again coming from somewhere, but these are the game changers,” Colati said.

“Fiji is only aware of the ones that we see on TV.”

With more than 2500 athletes expected to make their mark on the tracks and the field in the next three days, the secretary is anticipating a tough Fiji Finals.

“At the moment, we are anticipating a very tough games,” he stated.

As the competition amongst the schools will build up to being a dynamic one, he has relayed his well wishes to all those who will be a part of the games from beyond the tracks and the field.

“I would like to invite those who are still unable to make up their mind to come and be part of us during the 50th celebration,” he said.

“The excitement of the games cannot be felt on TV, you need to be here.”
