THE 63rd Annual Sanatan Convention kick started in Lautoka yesterday with many teams trying to adjust to the scorching western heat.

While it rained during the early part of the week, the sun came out yesterday and teams from the southern division and those travelling from overseas took a while to adjust.

Sanatan Sportswing president Sanjay Ram said competition is expected to heat up today.

“Today(yesterday), majority teams played their opening games, and they play their remaining pool matches tomorrow(today),” Ram said.

“It will be a battle for places in the playoffs for teams tomorrow(today) and we are expecting some tough battles.”

In some matches played yesterday, Navua beat Votualevu 4-2, Samabula thumped Nadi 3-1 while Nasinu had a good 4-1 win over Taveuni.
