Insyde Out touch rugby team showed why they are one of the top contenders this season as they swept all categories in round four of the Suva Touch Rugby Association competition last Saturday at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School grounds.
The Raiwaqa-based team recorded convincing wins in the Mixed Open, Men’s Open, under-14-17 and Masters 30s categories.
In the Mixed Open, Insyde Out outclassed Bombers 9-2, before backing it up with a 7-4 win over 2 Fresh in the Men’s Open.
Their youth side also delivered, edging Raiwaqa Flyers 5-3 in the U14-17 category.
The Masters team sealed the clean sweep with a 9-7 win over Fiji Correction.
Team representative Nelson Cokanasiga said the matchups were challenging but a good step forward.
“It was a good first-place game. Plenty of lessons taken out, but we got the win in all categories. We’re aiming for the title in men’s, mixed and master’s this year,” he said.
“Insyde Out has been running for nine years now and next year marks 10 years. We’re just a group from the Raiwaqa area, around Milverton and Grantham roads. We train every afternoon from Monday to Thursday and play on Saturdays.”
Cokanasiga also praised the association for its impact on youth.
“Touch rugby helps keep our youths engaged and away from negative influences like drugs. It gives them something positive to focus on.”
The men’s Insyde Out team aims to go beyond last year’s quarter-final exit and win it all this season.
