AS the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua regroup for their round ten Super Rugby Pacific reunion at home with the Waratahs this Saturday, they have been urged to not let their enthusiasm wane, having only won in one out of eight games so far.
This was the message from their co-captain Mesulame Dolokoto, as he conveyed to his teammates after their match against the Highlanders last Saturday.
“I just told the boys after the game to not lose the joy of playing even though the results are not going our way,” Dolokoto told the media.
“Keep on trying, if we get it or not, depends on the field. But I told the boys to give it a go, keep on trying.
“Come back next week Monday (yesterday), we’ll give it a go again.”
The Drua were defeated 20-43 at the Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin, New Zealand last Saturday.
The hooker was selected as co-captain alongside centre Iosefo Masi for that outing, standing in for the injured duo of Frank Lomani and Tevita Ikanivere.
Head coach Glen Jackson echoed Dolokoto’s sentiments, adding the team was filled with a pool of new talent.
“Of course, it’s a bit of both in that when you don’t get the result,” Jackson responded when asked if he felt either optimistic or frustrated at the team’s progression throughout the season.
“And I know they’ve been trying really hard, I know it’s a young group of men that we’re trying to gel together for my first year here.”
The Drua meet the Waratahs at Churchill Park in Lautoka at 3.35pm.
