Roosters ready for QVS battle

It’s down to the wire as the Ra High Roosters under-19 team prepares for the clash against Queen Victoria School in the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League national quarter-final competition at Prince Charles Park in Nadi today.

Having etched their names in history with a remarkable victory in last year’s quarter-finals against Ratu Kadavulevu School, where they won 16-6, the Roosters are eager to replicate their success by conquering yet another formidable opponent this year.

Leading the charge is team captain Taniela Daroya, who hails from Rokovuaka, Nalawa in Ra, who exudes confidence in his team’s preparations.

“Preparations have been great, the team have done all the hard yards during training. We just can’t wait to get into the field,” said Daroya.

Acknowledging the formidable challenge posed by Queen Victoria School, a powerhouse not only in rugby league but also in the Dean’s competition.

“Playing against Queen Victoria School will be a tough match for sure. They are one of the top teams not only in rugby league, but also in the Dean’s competition, so we are looking forward for the battle.”

Daroya acknowledged the tough battle that lies ahead, while victory remains a primary objective.

“Winning is always in our mind, but working towards it is something we will need to do, reaching the national quarter-finals is a big achievement, but our aim is to reach the finals and win the competition.”

Daroya extended his appreciation to the steadfast supporters from Ra and their families for their unwavering support and encouragement.

Ra Rooster will take on QVS Knights from 12.30pm to 1.45pm.
