THE experience and composure of the Crusaders proved to be the decisive factor in the match against the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua yesterday.
This was the analysis of Drua head coach Glen Jackson following their 14-31 loss to the Crusaders in round 8 of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific clash at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
“Today (yesterday) I thought the Crusaders played well, slowed the game down, and managed the game really well that’s why they got a lot of All Blacks in the game,” he stated.
While Jackson defended their preparation over the week, he admitted that his men failed to retain possession like they wanted to.
“Our boys tried really hard. We didn’t hang on to the ball like we wanted to.
“We prepared well, it’s always hard to come off a loss like we did in Perth. We certainly tried to put into place what we wanted to do today (yesterday) in the game but unfortunately we just didn’t quite do what we wanted to do,” coach Jacko said.
Jackson also acknowledged the difficulty of bouncing back from the previous defeat to the Western Force in Perth two weeks ago.
The result means the Drua remains at the bottom of the table with three points after the eighth round of competition.
Drua faces Highlanders next Saturday in Dunedin, New Zealand.
