THE Fiji men’s indoor volleyball team is currently in full preparation mode for the upcoming Mini Pacific Games in Palau.

With a total of 50 players in the extended squad, the team is focused on both short-term success at the mini games and long-term development for the Pacific Games in Tahiti in 2027.

Manager Myron Williams has emphasised the importance of preparing a competitive team that can not only perform well in the upcoming mini games but also be a strong contender at the Pacific Games in two years.

“The focus will be on preparing upcoming younger players who are showing potential to represent Fiji at the International Level and mixing these players with seasoned reps to build a squad for the mini games and then for the Pacific Games,” said Willams.

“Training sessions are progressing well, with the strength and conditioning coach leading sessions and the head coach and assistant coach providing guidance.

“The presence of affiliated associations’ presidents during fitness tests shows a strong support system for the team’s preparations.

“The goal for the Mini Games is clear a podium finish, and we will make it happen for our country.”

The Mini Pacific Games are scheduled for June 28 to July 9, providing the team with a clear timeline to fine-tune their preparations and work towards achieving their goal of a podium finish.
