THE Viti Roofing Devo Babas are favourites to claim the Fiji Bitter 7s series going into the last leg at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament which starts tomorrow.
The side earned 75 bonus points as winners of the Nawaka 7s in Nadi last week. This adds to wins earned in the Wairiki, Labasa, Savusavu and Tabadamu legs.
The team entered the series during its second leg at the Malake 7s, held in Rakiraki last October.
At the Malake leg, they were runners-up after being defeated by Police Blues 5-0 in the cup final.
In their next assignment at the Mataso 7s in Lautoka, they lost in the cup semi-final 12-17 to Fiji Blue.
They missed out on the Lomaiviti 7s and returned to the Nacula Yasawa 7s where they finished as runners-up after being beaten by the BLK Lavidi Brothers 19-5.
At the Wairiki 7s, they made their mark when they won over Police Blue 19-7 in Taveuni last December.
In the Labasa leg, they beat Wardens Gold 17-12 to win the tournament with a try scored at the sound of the full-time hooter.
A week later, they won the Savusavu 7s after beating TEMC Warriors 15-7 which was a back-to-back victory for them after Labasa.
Returning to Viti Levu for the Nahehevia leg in Sigatoka, they finished as bowl winners after defeating Ravoravo 28-12.
Heading to the Tabadamu 7s a week later, they won the tournament after defeating Wardens Gold 12-7.
At the Nawaka 7s last week, they beat the BLK Lavidi Brothers 20-0 to win the cup final.
This week for the Marist 7s, they are grouped in Super Pool 2 of the men’s category with SR Ubuntu, the BLK Lavidi Brothers and TEMC Warriors.
