The TEMC Warriors men’s team clinched a hard-fought 19-14 win over DXC Army Green in the men’s elimination rounds for the Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s at Prince Charles Park, Nadi yesterday.
The match went into extra time twice with both teams having to muster all their grit and might to emerge victorious over the other.
For the TEMC Warriors team, it’s a triumphant victory for them since they defeated the defending champions of the tournament.
Team coach David Dakuitoga was in an elated state following the match.”
“Defending champions is not a name tag, they are preparing hard to take it home again,” he said.
“I think it’s some supernatural stuff happening, a divine intervention happening in there that we cannot control.”
Dakuitoga relayed how high the emotions were for them during the two extra time sessions.
When they continue in the competition today, the team is seeking to apply what they have learnt from previous matches to better equip them.
“I think we’ll stick back to basics. There’s some really easy way to do things, we worked a bit harder to actually get the win,” he expressed.
“If we would have been smarter in our basics in the first place, I think it would have been an easier effort.”
“We will work on our basics, stamp on our defence structures and all these little structures that we’ve just put together and hopefully we’ll maintain in the next game.”
The TEMC Warriors team also beat the Kavala Bay Babas 19-5 yesterday.
