The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua are set for a high-stakes Super Rugby Pacific clash as they face the Brumbies in Canberra tomorrow night at the GIO Stadium.
With only one win from four rounds, the Drua aim to turn lessons from hard-fought battles into a breakthrough performance in the Australian capital, where they have yet to secure a win.
Head coach Glen Jackson’s side is determined to overcome early season setbacks.
Jackson is leaving no room for experimentation.
“Brumbies had a great victory against the Blues, so they’ll be pretty proud of what they did,” he said.
While the Drua respect their opponents, Jackson also highlights the urgency to elevate their game in every encounter as the competition intensifies.
He insists that consistency and focus are now paramount.
Recalling their first-round clash at the HFC Bank Stadium, Jackson admitted that the team did not achieve their intended performance in a narrow 36-32 loss.
“It’s good to get them again really early because we can just put into practice what we’ve done in the last four games,” he said.
The upcoming rematch offers a fresh opportunity to correct past errors and implement refined strategies.
Reflecting on the memorable 28-24 win over the Chiefs last weekend, Jackson highlighted the importance of experience and tactical awareness.
“The good thing is that I don’t think anyone of the players was born when I was playing for the Chiefs, so they didn’t even know that,” he said.
“We just played the top of the table team, and we knew we could beat them.
“I always mentioned to them that those bonus points were super important in this competition and to get a win plus three bonus points, now we can look forward to being on the road to Canberra and Perth.”
A win in Canberra would mark a historic turnaround, setting them on course for further challenges on the road ahead. Meanwhile, today the Drua fly out for tomorrow night’s match at 8.35pm.
