The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) presented the traditional reconciliation of ๐๐ข๐ต๐ข ๐ฏ๐ช ๐จ๐ข๐ด๐ข๐ถ to the ๐๐ถ๐ณ๐ข๐จ๐ข ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฆ ๐ฏ๐ข ๐๐ถ๐ช ๐๐ข๐ฃ๐ข ๐ฏ๐ข ๐๐ถ๐ฏ๐ช๐ท๐ข๐ญ๐ถ, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau on February 19.
RFMF said this was related to the breach of ๐ช๐๐ข๐ถ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ช protocols and acts displayed by soldiers on the arrest of the Turaga na Vunivalu in 2018, on Bau Island.
Military and police officers had arrested Ratu Epenisa and stopped his installation as the new Vunivalu of Bau.
RFMF Commander Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai led the army delegation.
Ratu Epenisa Cakobauโs wife, the ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ข๐ฎ๐ข ๐ฏ๐ข ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ช๐ฏ๐ช ๐๐ฆ๐ท๐ถ๐ฌ๐ข, and their eldest son, Ratu Popi Seniloli Cakobau, together with the younger Cakobau siblings received the army delegation.
โThe atmosphere was charged with emotion as the RFMF delegation expressed their deep remorse for the events that transpired,โ said the RFMF in a statement.
โThe meeting was significant as both sides acknowledged the past grievances and expressed a desire to move forward in unity.โ
