Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has urged the public to respect police officers in the line of their duties, citing the Taveuni incident on social media as a classic example.
The video who showed officers arresting a man who resisted and bystanders passing comments to police.
Mr Tudravu said this incident is being scrutinised.
“Respect police officers in their efforts of enforcing the laws of land,” he said.
“Members of the public are to exercise their rights in accordance with the law, as we will not tolerate police officers being ridiculed or sworn at when they are simply carrying out their duties.”
