The Fiji Pearls’ struggles continued at the PacificAus Sports Netball Series suffering a 67-47 defeat to Scotland on Tuesday.

This marks their second consecutive loss after falling 54-45 to Tifa Samoa a day earlier.

Scotland, ranked among the top 10 teams in World Netball, proved too strong for the Pearls despite a promising start.

Fiji trailed by just two points at the end of the first quarter, but Scotland took control in the second using their speed and precision to open up a commanding 36-21 lead at halftime.

The Pearls tried to fight back in the third quarter but couldn’t narrow the gap, with Scotland maintaining a 50-35 advantage before finishing with a dominant final period.

Despite showing moments of promise, the Pearls struggled to match Scotland’s tempo and execution.

Their defense was tested, and turnovers proved costly against a well-drilled Scottish side.

Now winless in two matches, the Pearls must regroup quickly as they prepare to face Papua New Guinea tonight at 7pm.

Interim coach and men’s netball head coach Jioweli Vakamoce will need to make key tactical adjustments as Fiji looks to stay competitive in the tournament.

With their campaign on the line, the Pearls will need a much-improved performance to turn things around and keep their hopes alive.
