KAVITESH Prasad and Zoheer Ahmed won the Dinesh Chand Invitational Golf tournament at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club on Sunday.

They overcame the tough competition and unpredictable weather conditions.

Prasad claimed the amateur division title, while Ahmed secured the professional division win in an event that saw 120 golfers competing across various categories, including juniors, ladies, amateurs, and professionals.

Heavy downpours disrupted play multiple times, forcing golfers to pause and resume their rounds before eventually completing the tournament.

Despite the challenges, Japan-based Fijian professional golfer Dinesh Chand, who sponsored and organised the annual event, rated the tournament a success.

“The rain made things difficult, but the players showed great patience and determination. It’s always special to come home and see how golf is growing in Fiji. I hope to keep building this tournament bigger each year,” Chand said.

The competition also welcomed golfers from Japan, further strengthening the tournament’s international presence

Chand stressed the importance of bringing overseas players to Fiji to help boost the local golfing scene.

With support from sponsors Punjas and Vuksich & Borich, the event provided a valuable platform for emerging and seasoned golfers alike.

Despite the weather disruptions, the tournament ended on a high note.
