The Fiji Council of Social Services (FCOSS) is satisfied its views have been heard in the allocations of the 2024-2025 budget.
This follows a review of its Citizens’ Budget analysis which examined the extent to which the national budget reflected allocations suggested by the organisation last year.
“Amongst other things, we had aimed to improve accountability across government agencies regarding their annual activities, programs, and financing and ultimately, enhance citizen well-being by improving access to government services and public goods,” said FCOSS Director, Vani Catanasiga.
Ms Catanasiga said the citizen analysis noted that the 2024–2025 National Budget demonstrates a commitment to resilience and inclusive growth, with significant allocations across critical sectors.
“However, ongoing evaluation, adaptation, and strengthened citizen engagement are necessary to ensure that financial resources effectively address community needs.”
FCOSS remains dedicated to advocating transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in public finance management.
