ABOUT $41million has been paid out to 203,492 students as back-to-school support for the 2025 school year, the Finance Ministry said.
In a statement, it said 200,176 students were paid in the first batch on January 10 and 3316 benefited in the second batch paid out on Monday.
“For all Year 12 students last year, the ministry is awaiting their 2025 enrolment confirmation before the payout is made. This includes around 8313 students.”
The statements said for parents who had yet to receive the assistance, and their children were not part of the Year 12 batch, there had been issues found in their applications.
“Their applications may have had incorrect or unregistered mobile numbers and wrong birth registration numbers while some may have incorrect or incomplete information in their application forms.
“This includes around 900 applications. The ministry is working with the Ministry of Education to assist these parents, where possible.”
The ministry said some schools might not have submitted the applications on time, including late applications by parents.
