BEACHCOMBER Island is undergoing a $10million renovation to turn the island resort into a four-star destination.

Following its acquisition by Vision Hotels Australia, renovation works began recently on the island getaway.

According to Investment Fiji, the project is being led by brothers Mark and Brendon Deely who are renowned for their successful management of 20 hotel businesses over the past 15 years, including Vanuatu’s largest property, Iririki Island Resort and Spa.

“This development will include a complete renovation of all existing rooms, upgrades to common areas and the construction of new rooms,” an Investment Fiji statement read.

“The renovation process is already underway as last year a brand-new kitchen was completed, and a new four-star menu was introduced.

“By late March 2025, a total of 38 rooms are expected to be fully renovated, with significant upgrades to the bar and restaurant with the remaining 12 rooms to be renovated by late June, 2025.”

The final phase of the project would include the construction of 40 additional rooms and these are scheduled for completion by March next year, expanding the resort’s capacity to 90 rooms.

“The $10million investment in Beachcomber Island Resort includes $4million allocated for initial renovations and $6million for new bure construction.

“With this project, a total of 50 jobs will be created during the renovation phase and an additional 50 permanent positions once the resort becomes fully operational.

“Through its partnership with the mataqali and local landowners, Vision Hotels aims to create long-term benefits as the resort develops.”

Investment Fiji anticipates the resort to achieve an average of 32,000 room nights and host 9000 guests annually upon the project’s completion.
