Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu has announced former Fiji First members will form a new party.

He was joined at the announcement by members of the Group of 16.

Mr Seruiratu said after the members of Group of 9 joined the Coalition government, it has become clear who stands where.

“We remain your alternative government, and it is now clear where everyone stands,” he said.

He said the new party will have those who have served under the Frank Bainimarama government since 2014.

Mr Seruiratu said they will now begin the formal process to register a new party.

To kick-off the process, five thousand signatures will need to be collected around Fiji to show support for the new party before a formal application can be lodged with the Registrar of Political Parties.
