The World Dental Development Fund has awarded $25,000 towards a Serua and Namosi community health outreach project.

This project was amongst five in the world to be awarded the grant – the other countries are Chile, Cook Islands, Rwanda, and Uganda.

The Serua and Namosi community health outreach is the brainchild of the Fiji Dental Association.

It aims to serve the communities of Serua and Namosi Provinces, focusing on two primary groups, children aged 5-12 years and adults.

“The total population to be reached includes approximately 1,200 children and 800 adults within the Namosi district,” said the World Dental Development Fund.

“The Namosi district comprises several rural villages, each with distinct oral health challenges due to limited access to dental care and health education.”
