Viliame Magitilailai looks forward to starting his secondary school journey this year at Marist Brothers High School (MBHS).

Magitilailai of Tokou Village in the district of Nasinu, Ovalau was the dux for Marist Convent School in Levuka last year.

Scooping the main award was a bittersweet farewell present for the Tokou lad who will leave Levuka to study in Suva.

Magitilailai and the school head boy, Gabriel Rarawa of Visoto Village in the district of Lovoni were both accepted at MBHS this year.

The Fiji Times Sales and Marketing manager and alumni of Marist Convent, Annie Robinson was chief guest at the school’s prizegiving ceremony.

The school which was established in 1882 has educated prominent Fijians like the lateTui Nayau and former president, Ratu Kamisese Mara and the Marama Bale na Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa.

Ms Robinson, during her speech congratulated all the students and teachers on another successful academic year and wished all the Year 8 students the best as they move to secondary school this year.

The school had a school roll of 329 students last year– providing education to many students from around Ovalau Island.

A total of 45 Year 8 students graduated from the school last year.
