Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has praised a security guard at the CWM hospital who asked him to remove his hat before entering the premises.
In a social media post, Mr Rabuka added if everyone had been as alert as the security guard at the main entrance, the situation with the faulty lifts at the CWM “shouldn’t have gotten to that state.”
Mr Rabuka said last Saturday he made an unannounced visit to CWM to inspect the lifts that weren’t working.
“He saw me coming in with my cap on as it was raining, and he said to me; “Ni luvata nomuni isala; e tabu na vakaisala e ke” (remove your hat. Hats are not allowed here,” posted Mr Rabuka.
“While it was a surprise visit, it really shouldn’t have been, they should have been expecting someone in authority to come and see the numerous complaints appearing in Open Columns of the Dailies and Social Media and emails forwarded to us by concerned members of the public,” he said.
Mr Rabuka said he raised the matter “firmly” with the Minister of Health Dr Atonio Lalabalavu, who assured me that one of the elevators is working and work is progressing on the others.”
