The Tribunal that investigated the suspended Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde used $88,597 in taxpayers’ money.
In their final report to the President, the Tribunal states it used $59,400 for sitting allowances. The Tribunal was chaired by Justice Anare Tuilevuka with two members, Justice Chaitanya Lakshman and Justice Samuela Qica. There were three lawyers assisting the Tribunal. No breakdown is provided in the report on who all were paid this amount.
$14,253 was used for accommodation.
Investigators allowance was $8,132 and investigators meals was $4,515. The report states two investigators, Sanjay Singh and Inoke Cokanasiga were appointed as investigators.
$1,405 was used for refreshments.
The Tribunal held 29 briefings from march to November 2024.
The hearing was held between 2-6 December 2024 with 24 witnesses called to testify.
The Tribunals findings were released yesterday which cleared Christopher Pryde of any wrong doing.
The President has yesterday revoked the suspension of Mr Pryde.
