WELLINGTON – Former All Black Mils Muliaina faces an internal review from his Irish club Connacht as he fights to clear his name of sexual assault allegations.
Muliaina, 34, was released on bail by South Wales Police over the weekend, having been arrested in Gloucester on Friday in relation to an alleged incident in Cardiff last month.
No charges were laid and the 100-Test veteran has returned to training with his Galway-based team while the investigation continues.
Muliaina, who has denied the allegations through his representatives, has reportedly been asked to return to Wales in July to help police further.
Connacht released a statement to acknowledge the arrest for the first time.
“He denies any wrong doing and will meet with Connacht Rugby officials in the coming days to review the situation internally,” the statement said.
“As this remains a legal matter, Connacht Rugby can provide no further comment.”
