Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Praveen Bala has criticised the government for its slow response to those affected by the floods in the West.

He said during their visit to flood-affected communities, the residents expressed frustration over the absence of meaningful government support.

“This government is more focused on overseas trips, photo opportunities, and grandiose GDP announcements than addressing the real struggles of our people,” he said.

“These failures demonstrate the governments disconnect from the realities on the ground.”

“Despite the challenges, I call on all Fijians to remain resilient and supportive of one another.”

Mr Bala added Fijians needed to prepare for more rain and possible flooding in the coming days.

“I wish to assure you, on behalf of G17, that the official opposition will continue to advocate for stronger leadership, meaningful reforms, and real solutions to the pressing issues facing Fiji.”
