The Fijian rugby community is in mourning following the passing of Waisea Mataitoga, a dedicated servant of the sport, who tragically passed away over the weekend.

This was confirmed by Fiji rugby union on a Facebook post.

Mataitoga made invaluable contributions to the development of rugby in Fiji.

He served as the manager of the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team from 2022 to 2023, working alongside Coach Saiasi Fuli.

His leadership and commitment to the Fijiana team left a lasting impact on both players and the rugby community.

In the past month, Mataitoga began a new chapter in his career as the manager for the SportsWorld Fiji under-20 team.

This role promised to further showcase his passion for the game and his dedication to the growth of young talent in Fiji.

Mataitoga was also well known for his successful management of the Vodafone Deans Queen Victoria school U18 team, which earned him much respect in the rugby circles.

Last weekend, the Fiji rugby union staff, board members, and several U20 players gathered to present their ireguregu in honor of Mataitoga, a testament to the high regard in which he was held within the rugby union.

The Fiji Rugby Vuvale extends heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.
