A trip to clean a school compound in the interior of Ra turned tragic yesterday after a villager died in a vehicle mishap.
The deceased was part of a group who were travelling in a carrier to the school.
On the way to the school, the carrier had stopped on a steep climb to pick up the deceased from the road-side and he decided to stand on the rear steps of the vehicle.
The carrier then started to roll back, and the deceased was thrown off, landing on the road.
The vehicle stopped at a slope with 15 other villagers in it.
The man was rushed to a nearby health centre where he was pronounced dead.
