We are not defined by what we have achieved but by how we use our experiences to help and support others”.
These were the words of St Anne’s Primary School head girl and dux for this year, Michaelle Fong.
Fong, who took home several awards during the school’s prize-giving event, gave some sound advice to her fellow graduates and thanked teachers and parents during the event.
Fong said she was filled with humility and gratitude during her final day at the school.
“This day is a reminder of how far we have come, not just as individuals but as a community that has supported and guided each other every step of the way,” she said.
Her advice to the younger students who were going to continue the journey next year was to be kind.
“To the younger students, you are the future of this school, and your potential has no bound.
“Remember success is not defined by perfection but by perseverance and the willingness to learn.
“Be kind to yourself and never underestimate the power of your efforts, take every opportunity to learn, grow and be curious.
“Trust that each experience, no matter how small, will always contribute to the person you will become.”
Fong also took time to thank the teachers and parents for their support.
“To our teachers, thank you for your unwavering support – your guidance has shaped us in ways that we will carry forward for the rest of our lives.
“To the rest of the students, trust in the wisdom of your teachers and know that they are here to help you through every challenge.
“Never be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
“I would also like to acknowledge the support of our parents and guidance throughout this academic year.
“Thank you for believing in us, for cheering us on during our struggles and celebrating our successes. Your love and support have lit our paths, inspiring us to reach for our dreams.
“We are eternally grateful for everything that you have done to help us succeed.”
She spoke positivity towards her fellow graduates as they get ready to venture into their new journey.
“Fellow graduates as we embark on our new journey, let us remember the importance of humility and gratitude.
“We are not defined by what we have achieved but how we use our experiences to help and support others.”
Fong took home the Year 8 first place award, the Religion award, the highest mark in English award, the highest mark in Social Science award, the leadership award and the dux award.
