The stage is set for the highly anticipated Mick’s Fiji Tours Vatulele Sevens tournament which kicks off tomorrow on Vatulele Island.
Now in its second year, the two-day event which will be held at Vatulele District School, has drawn more than 30 teams from across Fiji, promising an exciting display of talent, passion, and community spirit.
Tournament director Vilive Qionikorolevu highlighted the significance of the event.
“This event is not just a celebration of rugby, it is a profound testament to the spirit of community, resilience, and the incredible potential of our young athletes,” Qionikorolevu said.
He added that the tournament serves as a platform to promote development on Vatulele Island, bringing people together to celebrate unity and progress.
Thirty teams are confirmed so far including Naqarani, Army, Lami Cavaliers, and Devo Babas — all eager to display their talent and compete for the main prize.
The competition will feature both seasoned and emerging talents, giving local players an opportunity to shine.
Organisers have worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the event, which is expected to benefit not only rugby but also the local economy, as visitors and teams bring energy to the island.
The competition will run on until Friday.
