Swire Shipping Fijian Drua loosehead prop Peni Ravai is ready to close the chapter of his rugby career where it all began at home in Fiji.
After signing a full-term contract with the Drua, Ravai expressed his excitement about returning to play in front of Fijian fans.
“I thought this season would be my last, but when the Drua offered me another year, I couldn’t say no.
“What better way to finish my career than here in Fiji, where it all started,” Ravai shared.
The 50th test Flying Fijian is thrilled to don the Drua jersey for the upcoming season.
“It feels great to be back home. I’m excited to play in front of my home fans,” he said.
He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and has been training with physiotherapists and strength and conditioning staff to prepare for the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season.
“The boys here are young and full of energy. They’re lifting weights, staying fit, and ready for next season. It’s good to see such talent coming through,” he added.
With a new Super Rugby format on the horizon, Ravai is focused on improving his fitness and contributing to the team. He’s also enthusiastic about the competition within the forward pack.
“There’s good competition in the front row next year with young players stepping up. It’s great for Fiji rugby to see this depth developing,” he said.
At 34, Ravai acknowledges that age may limit his chances of being part of the Flying Fijians squad for the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
