Value City raised about $67,000 for WOWS Kids Fiji over six weeks.

The funds were accumulated through a series of fundraising initiatives.

Managing director Vera Chute shared during the cheque handover event, where she stressed the importance of collective responsibility, particularly as Fijian children and their families face unexpected challenges.

“Sale of food packs, weekly kati, raffles & kava barrel to name a few, were part of the drive during this time,” Ms Chute said.

“The incredible staff effort in the six weeks amounted to $26,539.90.

“This was then matched by Value City bringing the total to $53,079.80.

“A morning tea hosted here at Api Tonga in early September for our suppliers, service providers, business associates and friends of Value City raised $14,537.25.

“This added to our staff fundraising comes to a grand total of $67,617.05.”

Ms Chute said a key partner in this year’s fundraising efforts was Essity, which made an in-kind donation valued at $5000.

Their contribution included essential items such as tissue, sanitary pads, diapers, and sanitisers, which will be used at the WOWS Kids Centre.

She also commended the work of WOWS Kids Fiji, expressing hope that the funds raised would help further their mission to provide life-saving treatments, medication, and essential care to affected children and their families.

“Your work is invaluable, and we hope that this contribution will help you continue your efforts to improve the lives of these courageous children.

“Let’s continue to do what we are doing and bring hope to our brave young warriors and their families.”
